In 2017 ITP Renewables was commissioned by Endeavour Energy to deliver the Endeavour Energy SolarSaver Program.  The aim of the Program is to investigate the effectiveness of distributed energy storage in addressing the challenges faced by network operator in dealing with peak energy demand.

 

The trial involved the installation of 41 home energy storage systems in Western Sydney. The cost of each battery was significantly subsidized and in return Endeavour Energy reserves the right to access power from the battery at critical peak times throughput the two-year trial period. The trail will gather vital information that will enable Endeavour Energy to roll-out a wider program of demand response using distributed storage systems. On homes with existing PV systems ITP installed LG Chem HV 9.8kWhr battery packs coupled with SMA Sunny Boy Storage battery inverters. The system monitoring and control is performed by Reposit battery management device.

 

This presentation will include early results of the trial. At this stage the results appear promising and an expansion of the Program is being considered.
